My Practice

My mission is to help my patients live better

My practice is a full-service mental health practice. I work with children, teens, and adults to help them lead happier lives. I help my patients with a broad spectrum of mental health concerns including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • ADHD
  • OCD
  • Behavioral issues
  • Autism
  • Bipolar disorder

A Balanced Approach

I take a balanced and holistic approach to mental health treatment. I combine traditional medical treatments with natural approaches and lifestyle changes to bring about positive change for my patients. Medical treatments, including prescription medications, are extremely effective at treating many issues. However, I have also seen mind/body treatments and lifestyle changes result in real improvements in the quality of life. These alternative approaches can be effective complementary treatments to traditional medical therapies, or a good initial course of treatment on their own. I believe that a more balanced approach to healing the mind and body provides my patients with a more diverse tool set to enable lasting positive change.

Medical Therapies

Prescription medications provide effective treatment for a wide range of mental health issues.

Natural Remedies

Natural remedies such as supplements, probiotics, and meditation are proven approaches to improve a variety of mental health concerns.

Lifestyle Changes

Lifestyle changes and practical advice such as improved sleep, a healthier diet, and exercise can result in real improvements.

What To Expect

Each patient’s concerns and circumstances are unique, so there is no set recipe for patient sessions. However, I take a very practical approach to treatment. When we discuss your concerns, we will likely explore what is in your control and what is not, discuss strategies for handling things out your control, define an action plan for things that you can change, discuss medication options if appropriate, and talk about potential lifestyle changes and practical advice. I am equally likely to recommend that you take a natural supplement, get more sleep, or hire a housekeeper as I am to prescribe medication. Practical changes to your decision making and how you live can enable positive change as effectively as medicines in many cases.

Based on your circumstances, the duration of treatment and length of sessions will vary over time. My goal is to provide you with the tools and solutions so you can live better without a need to see me often or at all.

Appointment Policies

My office hours are by appointment only. I do my best to offer a range of appointment times. I schedule appointments Monday thru Friday beginning early in the morning throughout the day and early evening, and I have some availability for appointments on weekends.

I see patients in-person in my office in McLean as well as by phone or video conference.

Initial appointments are generally 55 minutes in length. Subsequent appointments will vary in length and frequency depending on your needs.

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. Please provide two business days notice for a cancellation to avoid being charged for the appointment.

For payment, I accept cash and checks. Payment for an appointment is required prior to the next appointment. I do not participate with insurance and am considered an “out of network” provider. You will need to file your own claims with your health insurance carrier. Coverage for mental health varies widely between insurance policies, so please consult with your insurance company in advance to understand your coverage if you plan to file claims.
