About Me

As a psychiatrist, I work in the media and in my practice to bring about positive change.

I am a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. I have been in private practice since 2003. I see patients in-person in my office in McLean, Virginia. I also see patients via video conference or by phone from my home in Lafayette, Louisiana.

In the media, I have a weekly mental health segment on NBC4 Washington News. I contribute to national news outlets including the TODAY show, NBC Nightly News, and MSNBC. You can also follow me on social media.

I attended medical school at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC. I completed a residency and fellowship in adult and child & adolescent psychiatry at The George Washington University Hospital and at the the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. I have a special certification to prescribe buprenorphine medications to treat opioid dependency.

I grew up in Philadelphia. I’ve spent most of my professional life in the Washington, DC area. Currently, I live with my wife and two children in Lafayette, Louisiana. I am enjoying the warmer weather and the improved work-life balance. In my free time, I exercise, tend to my bonsai and other plants, sit in the sun, and spend time with my family.
